To implement a project
“shift mind set of young Cambodian people for Democracy and Prosperity”
Work to promote and defend human rights in Cambodia
About FedCIS
Federation of Cambodian Intellectuals and Students (FedCIS) is a non-governmental organization (NGO), not for profit, independent and non racism or colors, non religious and nonpartisan organization. It is created to represent students and intellectuals in Cambodia. It aims at protecting and serving legal interests of Cambodian Intellectuals and Students and for national society of Cambodia as a whole.
FedCIS is initially formed on 03 September 2008 by a group of Cambodian students and intellectuals who are passionate about enhancement of human rights and democracy in Cambodia and are committed to make a change in Cambodia society.
FedCIS is officially registered as a Local NGO with Ministry of Interior and it is approved by the ministry through a letter No. 221 Sor.Chhor.Nor dated 28 November 2008 to implement its programme activities legally.
Our Belief
FedCIS believes that critical issues facing the Cambodia today demand every generation's attention and action, and that youth, students and intellectuals are instrumental in movements for positive social change in Cambodia. We also believe that when students organize we will be able to make a difference in Cambodia and in the world.
Project shared vision
To shift mind set of young Cambodian people through education and empowerment.
Project objectives
-          To teach them on the universal declaration on human rights.
-          To teach the constitution of the kingdom of Cambodia.
-          To teach young Cambodian on know how to claim for their rights respect.
Project Rationale
Having seen and faced everyday:
-          From elders’ side, The elders’ perception is to let younger generations to think of social and political problems by claiming that they are already old. ….Let’s it for next generations to care of…..
-          On another younger’ side, The younger’ perception is to let elder people to take care of social and political activities by claiming that it’s risky and useless following their parent and family ban and wrong thinking.
-          Both young and elder people have the same mind set.  As results,  they are living as current status.
-          Their  wrong belief of Buddhist’s theory is that their today’s outcome is from their past life without any deep considerations and logical rationales at all.
-          So, it does mean that they, both sides don’t know their roles and obligations as Khmer citizen as set in the constitution and don’t know their basic rights as exist in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights of The United Nations.
Project Methodologies
Only education will make the difference! So, we will have to:
-          Conduct various workshops at all provinces across Cambodia.
-          If possible, get westerner (volunteer) to teach young Cambodian people with a translation by FedCIS staff – Cambodian’s mind set give a privilege to westerners more than local people. They normally listen to westerner more than local people – that’s the current reality.
-          Conduct various campaigns such as rally on (World Youth Day on 18th August etc) to raise awareness at national level in order to get the senior government officers and relevant governmental ministries to take care of issues of youth.
-          Following the workshops, we will identify and select FedCIS representatives and train them to become Human Rights Activists and Defenders for their respective school or communities.
Target group/beneficiaries
We target young people and people who are at risks of becoming of victims of their rights abuses. They are:
-          Students or young people – includes college students,  high schedule students and drop out adults – farmers and workers/laborers.
-          Victims of HR abuses, people at community and/or slum areas.
Therefore, in order to achieve objectives as said above, we need sponsors to do run such workshops as much as we can!
